After my walk the previous day I awoke to find that the toe seemed to be no worse so we decided on this walk in the Silverdale area.
We left the car at the RSPB Visitor Centre and walked up the road to gain access to the Moss. Here we are passing a section of the Silverdale Golf Club. Just right of centre the top of the Trowbarrow Quarry can be seen which would be our return route.
I don't seem to have much luck with bird-life views here although as I've often said I don't have the patience to sit and wait.
The main pool from the public hide.
We left the reserve to walk up to Grisedale Farm.
A look back as we walk along the farm lane towards Leighton Hall.
Today however we will not be passing Leighton Hall, instead we will take a left turn through the gate ahead towards Yealand Storrs.
Our way ahead across the fields.
A look over Grisedale Farm to Leighton Moss. The darkened section of the field is due to muck spreading and its rich aroma fills the air.....lets get a move on!!
A look ahead to Brow Foot Farm with the woods of Yealand Hall Allotment behind, through which we shall soon be walking.
Leaving the field paths to enter Yealand Storrs.
A look back to Leighton Moss.
Crocuses at Yealand Storrs
A left turn and a few yards down the road took us into the woods of Yealand Hall Allotment.
Hidden amongst the trees are sections of limestone pavement.
There as been a lot of conservation work in the area recently......see below
A glimpse of Arnside Knott with the quarry face of the now disused Middlebarrow Quarry to the left.
Looking over to the Gait Barrows Nature Reserve home to the Lady's Slipper Orchid and some wonderful limestone pavement.
The raised boardwalk alongside Hawes Water.
Looking over Hawes Water to Challan Hall
A short walk from Hawes Water took us to the lane at Lake Cottage
Edith makes friends.
There are lambs in the field as we look over towards Eaves Wood.
We decided to make our return through the old Trowbarrow Quarry
Looking along the quarry with the Shelter Stone to the left.
A walk through the woods took us back towards the visitor centre.
Inquisitive youngsters as we make our way back.
And finally.....back to the car park.....and the toe feels ok
