The path through Great Wood to Cat Gill

Climbing up Cat Gill Derwentwater and Catbells came into view

Nearing the top of Cat Gill, Walla Crag is not to far away

Edith on Walla Crag. Unfortunately it was a very hazy day and the Skiddaws are barely visible

Dave on Walla Crag

The path along Walla Crag

Looking down on Dewentwater. From here we took the path down to Rakefoot before heading across to the Castlerigg Stone Circle

The path down to Rakefoot

Looking back to Walla Crag from Rakefoot

From the path between Rakefoot and the A591 looking towards the Skiddaw fells and Latrigg

Having crossed over the A591 we went down Castle lane to the stone circle

Castlerigg stone circle....not the biggest in the country but surely no other as such a magnificent backdrop. From here we went along a minor road to cross the busy A66 and then down onto the old Keswick - Penrith railway line, now a popular walk and part of the C2C Cycle path.

Taken just after crossing the A66 we then dropped down the old railway line. Lonscale Fell on the left and Great Calva in the distance

From the same place looking to Blease Fell and Blencathra

One of the old bridges on the path. Just past this bridge we turned right of the path to take the lane you can see on the far right to access Latrigg

The path leading up to Latrigg

The main tourist path up Skiddaw

Only a few hours old at the most

Edith on Latrigg

Dave on Latrigg

There were plenty of people about today

The Skiddaws and Carl Sidefrom Latrigg. From Latrigg we took the path down to Keswick which is part of the Cumbria Way

The way down to Keswick

A busy day at the waterside. We stopped here for a cuppa and cake.

The launches were doing a brisk trade. From here we took a path along the shoreline past Friar's Crag back to the car

The route back with Walla Crag behind

Nearly back...this path runs parallel to the road back to Great Wood

And finally , back to the car
