Looking down into Deep Gill to the West Wall Traverse
Looking across Mickledore to Scafell Pike
A close up of the Pike. There were walkers heading there from all directions. Meanwhile we had Scafell all to ourselves
Wastwater from the saddle. From here we took a path down towards Hard Rigg. Initially it was quite steep and on scree but as we got lower it became more grassy.
From the start of our descent looking across into Mosedale
Looking down to Burnmoor Tarn where we were heading. Our track would take us to the right of the picture around Hardrigg Gill and then down the Hard Rig ridge down to the tarn.
Taken from Hard Rigg looking back to the scree slopes of Scafell
Edith rescues beetles from Burnmoor Tarn
Bulatt Bridge. The path to the right goes down to Boot.
The track is an old Corpse Route between Boot and Wasdale
Getting near to Boot now and it was getting warm
The Corn Mill at Boot
Just a couple of pints of shandy for me.....Coke for Edith
From Boot we crossed the road to take this lane to St. Catherines Church and to the river
St. Catherines church. From the church we took a path along the river to Doctor Bridge
Doctor Bridge. From here it was back to the road for the final 3/4 mile
Passing the Woolpack along the way. I was tempted but Edith was ready for back.
Edith makes friends on the way back.
Back to the cottage
