Route: | Gummer's How car park - Gummer's How - Gummer's How car park |
As I was returning home from my walk on Beacon Fell I had time to spare and with the forecasters giving a not too good forecast for the weekend I decided to do Gummer's How. So it was left turn at the Newby Bridge roundabout and I was soon parked up in the Gummer's How car park. There is no mistaking the route to the summit although near to the top the path splits into many variations. For the descent I took a path to the east at first then turning south and west to rejoin the main path below the scrambly bit.
Gummer's How from the road near the car park.
From the road looking across Windermere towards the Coniston Fells
Starting the climb up and looking down on Lakeside and Summer House Knott
Higher still and the outflow from Windermere (River Leven) can now be seen
Oooops!......another bit of duplication
Near the summit and looking over to the Coniston Fells. The Langdales can just be seen on the far right.
From the same place with Black Combe in the distance
Gummer's How summit
Windermere from near the summit. The Fairfield Horseshoe is centre picture with Red Screes to the right.
A close up of the Coniston Fells from near the summit
Sunshine in the Langdales?......Maybe I should be there. The small patch of water is Esthwaite Water
Looking Eastward with Ingleborough just above the tree in the centre
A last look at the summit before I descend
The way back.....The car park is just to the left of the white van you can see on the road down to Newby Bridge.
And finally a last look back to the summit.
