Route:  Underbarrow Rd - Cunswick Fell - Underbarrow Rd - Scout Scar - Underbarrow Rd

It was too nice a day to miss getting out so after we had done the weekly shop it was into the car for the short trip to Kendal. We left the car at the top of the Underbarrow Road and walked first along Cunswick Scar to the top of Cunswick Fell. We returned along the scar and then made our way up onto Scout Scar where we walked to the summit Trig point before returning to the car.

Route Map

We left the car at the top of the Underbarrow Road and set off along Cunswick Scar.

The rounded slopes of the Howgills

The Whinfell Ridge.

Some curious locals watch us walk by

The Coniston Fells from Cunswick Fell

Further north there was more snow on the Langdales

It may have been an illusion but the snow on the Kentmere Fells seemed to be receeding as we watched

Ashstead Fell, Mabbin Crag, Castle Fell and Whinfell Common.

The "Humpy" Howgills

The auld grey town............Kendal

Edith & Dave on Cunswick Fell. Dave's the dark one laid down.

From Cunswick Fell we returned along the scar to the Underbarrow Road where we took this path up onto Scout Scar

The Trig point on Scout Scar

Now for something a little different. This was taken directly into low sunlight. Looking S'wards to Arnside Knott with the Power Stations at Heysham behind

Looking across the Lyth Valley to Whitbarrow

We had walked along the crest of the ridge to the Trig point. Our return was along the scar edge

Over the years I must have walked along here close to 100 times, yet it never ceases to lift me
