I was by myself today and couldn't go far as I had to see somebody in Lancaster later. I decided on going to the Crook O'Lune picnic area and having a short walk along the river. When I parked up and had a look the riverside path looked very wet so I settled on a walk along the old railway line which is now a cycleway.

The Crook O' Lune picnic site car park
Looking up the Lune valley, the riverside paths looked very wet so I decided on the old railway line. Ingleborough which should be in the distance was cloud covered.
Looking across the river to Caton Moor with its windfarm
The road bridge at the Crook O'Lune. You can see the water rushing by the support piers.
The old railway line
Looking across to Halton Park and Burton wood.
Crossing Artle Beck
Ellers Farm
At this point the cycleway ends. I believe negotiations are taking place to cotinue it up the valley but at what stage they are I am not sure.
The Bull Beck picnic area. The "butty bar" was shut today. This is a popular place at the weekends with the motorcyclists on there way to and from Kirkby Lonsdale.
Not to sure what was happening here. The farmer had the dog first bringing the sheep then driving them away. Could have been a young dog I guess as there was no course laid out fror practising trialling.
Some "artwork" along the way. Not sure what it is meant to represent though. Needs a bit of a clean.
A cottage at Caton. It's called "Station Cottage" . I wonder if it was originally one of the stations along the line.
Caton Moor with its attendant windfarm.
Back at the Crook O'Lune I decided to have a little wander along the riverbank to view the 3 bridges which cross the river here. This is the road bridge from the picnic site.
Well it's a pleasant enough place to come and remember a loved one.
The riverside path
Looking down the river to the old railway bridge on the south side of the "crook"
The road bridge from the "crook"
The railway bridge on the north side of the "crook" taken from the riverside.
And the road bridge......I guess by now your thinking "this chappie must like bridges"......correct!!.....as long as they're old
Walking back up to the car park I saw that Ingleborough had made an appearance.
A close-up of Ingleborough with dusting of snow.
And finally.....Back at the car park and "Woodies" snack bar was open. Unfortunately I hadn't time to partake.
