Today we had arranged to meet up with two fellow members of the ONLINE FELLWALKING CLUB at Horton in Ribblesdale to walk up Pen y ghent. They were Steven Procter and partner Lorraine Barks. Lorraine is currently building her fellwalking stamina back up after a big battle with Duodenal Cancer. To see her story please click HERE, it will open in a new page.
New members are always made welcome at the OFC ......it's only a click away.

The car was left in a layby at the south end of the village

Before we set off we held a "Silliest hat" competition.......votes on a post card to........

After walking up the lane to Brackenbottom we started the climb up the fellside

A distant Ingleborough in the haze

Getting higher and Pen y ghent comes into view

Be thankful your not in France!

Getting nearer to the ridge

On the ridge and starting the steeper climb to the summit

Fountain Fell across the valley

The last little scrambly bit before the climb is over

A look back down

Made it!!!......Edith, Lorraine , Steve and Dave

The way ahead to Plover Hill. For every 1000 walkers that come up Pen y ghent probably only one will walk along here.

Ingleborough

Looking back to Pen y ghent from Plover Hill

Which way now Steve?

The wind-up GPS says "NO"

The way down ....little bit steep in places but no problems

On the bridleway and 3.75 miles to go.

Hull Pot

On the Pennine Way down to Horton....A thunderstorm was brewing behind us

Waterproofs required on Ingleborough

A train on the Settle - Carlisle railway as the thunderstorm continues

Funny lighting behind us as the storm passed

Approaching Horton

Back in Horton and a visit to the cafe.

St Oswald's church at Horton in Ribblesdale with Pen y ghent behind.

And finally.....Pen y ghent from the layby
Many thanks to Steve & Lorraine for a great day.
