I had intended to do this walk yesterday but a hospital appointment for Lung function tests that went on and on and also the boss-lady full of cold made it impossible to fit in. This morning however I was away early and walking for just after 8am. This is a wonderful area for those that like firm grass beneath their feet. Today the views were once again restricted mainly to the nearby fells  due to the haze.

I have posted a map for this walk because I believe that many of you may not be sure where I actually was today.

Looking to Weasdale and Hooksey from the car

A once proud farmstead

Weasdale Beck

Looking to Cow Bank as I start the climb up Hooksey

The path ahead. The top of Hooksey is somewhere behind the right hand tree

Gaining height, and a look back down to Cow Bank with the North Pennines in the distance

Looking ahead

The top of Hooksey with Randygill Top ahead.

Where do I start?....From the left, Randygill Top, Yarlside, Hare Shaw, Hazelgill Knott and I think it's Grains behind.

On my way to Randygill Top the path descends to what is known as Leathgill Bridge

And from the other side looking back to Hooksey

Randygill Top summit

Kensgriff (l) and Yarlside from Randygill Top

The West Fell ridge

Confusing Fells.... Looking over Hazel Gill to what I believe to be Breaks Head

Looking back to Hooksey

Looking south to a distant Inglborough

The way ahead to Green Bell

The Weasdale valley

This little pool was the only standing water on the walk. It was around this point that I crossed paths with the only other person I saw

Green Bell summit

The track back to Randygill Top

Wild Boar Fell across the valley

A look back as I descend the easy ridge from Green Bell

The car comes into view

A look across at my outward route

And finally......back to the car

Next Walk:     15th May 2008 -- Arnside Knott from Silverdale

Last Walk:    11th May 2008 -- Pen y ghent  & Plover Hill from Horton
