This was to be the last walk of our week at the delightful STY COTTAGE at Wythop Mill. A rather dull day but the walking was easy and there was even a short section that we hadn't walked before.

We left the car at Horsemoor Hills and walked a short way up the lane to gain access to the fells

We are now on the bridleway signposted Burn Tod looking down to the car

After a short distance a delightful green track leaves the farm lane

A look across to Bakestall with the Ullock Pike ridge to the right

In the past we have left the green path around here to make our way up to Great Cockup. Today however we followed it.

Looking across Dash Farm to the Dash Falls

The way ahead. Our track gors towards Burn Tod, shown left, then follows Hause Gill to the col between Knott and Great Calva

The rined sheepfold at Burntod Gill. If you follow the track through the "V" you arrive at Trusmadoor where we would visit later

Following the track up Hause Gill

A look back

Not much water to be seen in the gill

We have arrived at the col now and started on our way to Knott

The other way would have taken us to Great Calva

Looking towards Mungrisedale Common and Blencathra

Great Calva and the Skiddaw Fells from Knott

Knott summit

A short walk to Great Sca Fell

Great Sca Fell summit

On the way to Meal Fell with Great Cockup behind it

A look back at Little Sca Fell and Great Sca Fell

Meal Fell summit

Descending to Trusmadoor with Great Cockup ahead

Trusmadoor

Great Cockup summit

The way back

Little Cockup with Bensey and Overwater

We walked along the ridge, which seemed neverending to Orthwaite Bank

Finally dropping down onto the bridleway

And back to the car

Next Walk:     4th June 2008 -- High Dam from Finsthwaite

Last Walk:      29th May 2008 -- Mellbreak from Lanthwaite Wood CP
