It had been our intention to go to Swaledale today with some fellow members of the OFC but had to give backword as it was our sons' wedding anniversary and they had booked a meal for us. The weatherman the previous evening had given a bright start to the day so despite it being very overcast when I set off, I made my way to Newby Bridge to hopefully get some pictures of Windermere in the early morning sunlight. Unfortunately the sunshine did not appear until I was on my way home. I did go to Fell Foot park to see the colours there after the walk though.
An empty car park
As I drove along the A590 on the way here a hot air balloon had passed over quite low but there was nowhere to park.
These two were quite low in the valley
Gummers How
Summerhouse Knott and Lakeside
Whitbarrow in mid picture as I gain height
The Coniston Fells in the far distance
Nearing the summit and a look back
Nearly there!!
Gummer's How summit......no Edith today to brighten the picture up.
A look N'wards along Windermere
Whitbarrow
I had a stroll along the ridge as far as the forest line hoping the day would brighten but to no avail.
The easy way down , to the east of the summit
Back on the main path down
Company for the car. I never saw whoever drove them here. From here I drove down to Fell Foot for a short walk around.
Plenty of colour at Fell Foot
Glad I came now......give me a reflection ot two and I'm happy
Follow me kids!.....I'm not sure what that thing is that he's pointing at us is!
Unconcerned cygnets
And finally.....Gummer's How from Fell Foot......still only 9:30am
