We were late away today as Edith had a doctors appointment at 10:45am. With not much time available and not very promising weather we plumped for one of the old favourites....The Kendal Scars.

We left the car at the top of the Kendal - Underbarrow road

And took the path onto Cunswick Fell

Rather than do a "out and back" route along the ridge we dropped down Gamblesmire Lane to Cunswick Hall farm

Views were severely limited, the higher fells being swathed in cloud

A look across to Cunswick Fell as we descended Gambelsmire Lane

Passing Cunswick Hall farm

Entering Ash Spring wood

Our path to Scar Wood is plain to see across the recently cut field

Cunswick Tarn

On the rising path through Scar Wood

It is only a short walk to the summit when we leave the wood

Looking across Kendal to Benson Knott

Looking towards Stavely and Reston Scar. The high Kentmere fells are hidden today

Our route back towards the car

A look back

Crossing the Underbarrow road to Scout Scar

The "mushroom" shelter on Scout Scar

Arnside Knott to the left and Whitbarrow to the right from Scout Scar

Returning along a very windy edge to the car

Cunswick Fell from Scout Scar

And finally..............back to the car
