By myself today as Edith was visiting her brother. I fancied something away from the Lake District so what better than the Dales and only 40 minutes away.
Giggleswick Scar from near where I left the car.
My path started opposite the Scar Top garage. Pendle Hill in the distance.
The walking is easy, along close cropped grass towards Smearsett Scar
The silhouette of Ingleborough against the grey sky.
Approaching the area known as Feizor Thwaite.
Descending to Feizor
Feizor. My next path , part of the Pennine Bridleway can be seen going up to the woods.
Looking over to Smearsett Scara popular spot with the climbers.
It was open but I'd only been walking 40 minutes or thereabouts so I didn't stop.
Looking back to Feizor as I walk up the Pennine Bridleway
Wheatear
and another!!
As I reached the top of the path the familar shape of Pen y ghent came into view from behind Moughton Nab. My next path was over the stile in the foreground.
Ingleborough from the stile
My path descended through a few fields to pick up a path to Jop Ridding
Approaching Jop Ridding
Jop Ridding
Looking across to Norber
Looking down to Austwick
I did think about going down to Austwick but I would have had to return along the same path so I didn't bother. I took the lane to Wood House.
Passing Wood House
The walled lane is quite narrow but is easy walking
Approaching Meldings Barn
Meldings Barn
The bridleway looks quite overgrown here but had been used recently both by mountain bikes and horses.
A look over to Feizor as I make my way back to the car.
From the end of the bridleway I had a short walk along this quiet lane back to the car.
And finally ......back to the car
