I had hoped to go for a walk in the morning straight after dropping Edith off at her brothers for the day. However the weather had conspired against me, it was raining and quite breezy. Now I don't mind getting caught out in bad weather but the days of setting out in it are long gone now, besides these walks our for our photographic memories for when we can no longer do them and I don't want to be looking at a picture of mist and rain in my latter years. Around 3pm the weather started to brighten, the sun popped his head from behind the clouds so I threw my gear in the car and nipped up to Arnside for this short walk. Unfortunately the brighter weather was short lived and by the time I reached Arnside the dull weather was back.

The railway viaduct at Arnside. The tide is coming in.

A couple of anglers on the pier. The best months for fishing here are September/October.

My route will take me along the shore to New Barns, if the tide doesn't beat me first!

A close up of Whitbarrow behind the viaduct

A look back

Rather than walk over a messy bit of shoreline I took a path through the Grubbins Wood nature reserve.

New Barns

The start of my path up the Knott

Walking up through Copridding Wood

Dark sky over Kents Bank and Humphrey Head

New barns and Grange from the viewpoint

Looking to Whitbarrow

Arnside Knott summit seat

My return was down Red Hills and through Dobshall wood

Ashmeadow House

Returning to the car along the promenade

Looks fun!

And finally......just time for one before I return home
