The day had started dull with an occassional shower. However the weatherman was promising a few hours brighter weather in the afternoon so when it started brightening just after 11am I put my gear in the car and made my way up the A6 to park between Hale and Beetham.

Beetham Hall farm

The Kings Arms at Hale

Farleton Fell from Hale

A cottage at Hale as I took the path to Slack Head

The path I was using was The Limestone Link which runs from Arnside to Kirkby Lonsdale

Through the woods

The path is well waymarked particularly as it crosses an area of Limestone pavement

After walking through Slack Head I took the path to Beetham Fell

A wonderful splash of colour at the path side

The path to Beetham Fell

Arnside Knott and Hampsfell from Beetham Fell

Looking down the cleft in the escarpment known as The Fairy Steps

From Beetham Fell I took a path to Haverbrack.

There were hundreds of young pheasants along the path and in the hedgerows, all been bred for the shooters.

After passing through Haverbrack I dropped down into the Dallam estate

Dallam Tower

Reflections in the River Bela

The footbridge at Milnthorpe. From her here doubled back to take a path through the Deer park

Dallam Tower with Whittbarrow to the right

The deer were very shy today

Descending to Beetham. There was lots of the green/blue stuff on the ground. It felt, for want of a better description just like damp cardboard. I assume it was for the sheep because they were certainly enjoying it.

Reflections behind the weir at Beetham

The Heron Corn Mill.....open Wednesday - Sunday

Difficult to access but just managed a shot of the weir

St Michael of All Angels church at Beetham

The Heron Theatre

And finally ......back to the car.
