I was by myself today and after a morning visit to the Doctors for yet another "check up" I decided to take myself off to Levens for a short walk. It was actually quite sunny when I left home but by the time I arrived at Levens Bridge it was quite dull and overcast. However it did stay fine for me so lets be thankfull for small mercies.

Whitbarrow from where I parked the car near Levens Bridge.

"Some like it hot!!"....This event had been on at Levens Hall over the weekend....I believe it went down well...with water!!

I took the path up the east side of the River Kent.

One of the distinctive Bagot goats

Bagot Goat

Black fallow deer

After all the recent rain the paths were soft and slippy.

A close up of the black fallow deer

At the top end of the park now. This is where I leave the park for a short section of road walking.

Crossing the A590

Small falls on the River Kent near Force Bridge

Whilst I was looking for a spot to get a picture of the river I heard some muffled noises. (I'm a little hard of hearing and suffer from Tinnitus , a reward for a misspent youth). When I turned around this chappie was just above me.

On my way to Park Head. This lane now ends at the A590 but used to run to Park Head. There is however a footpath under the A590.

Force Falls

I'm now on the footpath under the A590 looking at the angles on the opposite bank

Park Head

From Park Head my route lay across two soggy fields to gain access to Levens Park.

Back into the park

Approaching the river

After leaving the park I crossed the A6 to go into the grounds of Levens Hall

Flood Stones.....The river was quite high today but wwithin its banks...At an estimate it would have to bea at least another 10-12 feet higher to reach these stones

After having a look around I left to make my way back to the car passing Levens Bridge on the way.

And finally.......back to the car
