With a none to brilliant forecast for the weekend we decided to get this little walk in while we could. Also as the effects of the Methotrexate wear off I do not know how this is going to affect my walking in the short term. Hopefully the breathlessness will ease but obviously there will be more pain from the joints. Anyway we parked the car at Silverdale and just had these easy stroll around. Not the best of days for photography but here goes.
From Siverdale we walked across the field paths to The Row
Approaching The Row
Help yourself, but put summat in the jar for charity
Entering Eaves Wood
There are loads of paths in the woods but it's difficult to get lost.
Arrival at the Pepperpot overlooking Silverdale
From the Pepperpot we took a path across the top of the caravan park towards Arnside Tower
Arnside Knott from the caravan park
Arnside Tower, an old Pele Tower of which there are many across the north of England
Descending to Arnside Tower farm and across to Arnside Knott
A look back as we enter Arnside Knott wood. We would follow the path in here to the point where it turns up to the Knott itself. We however would turnn the t'other way and walk down Heaththwaite to Far Arnside
Descending down Heaththwaite and Ingleborough is just visible between the trees.
Looking down the bay to the Power Stations
The Herwick sheep are back at Far Arnside for the winter
The route now goes across the fields to enter the caravan park at the bottom
This building houses a swimming pool , shop , kiddies play area, laundry and most importantly .....a cafe!!.....in we go
From the caravan park it's only a short walk down to the cove where this lone angler was trying his luck. The low lying land on the left is Hunphrey Head one of Wainwrights Outlying Fells of Lakeland.
Across the fields towards Silverdale
The car is parked near the church. Pity we can't cut across.
And finally......back to Silverdale.
Next Walk: 22nd October 2008 -- Lake District -- School Knott from Cleabarrow
