Health Update
Today, 1st November 2008 I received a letter from the hospital saying that the result of my recent Chest CT Scan showed "honeycombing of the chest especially peripherally in keeping with Interstitial Fibrosis". When I googled this and looked at the symptons they matched mine perfectly. Looking further started to worry me so I packed that in. I stopped taking the Methotrexate which I thought and still hope was the cause a few weeks ago and at first the tightness of the chest and breathlessness seemed to ease but unfortunately have both returned even worse. I'm not due to see the Rheumatologist until the 24th November so at the moment I'm not feeling to great. There are a couple more walks to put on the website following this one and I will try to keep going as it said that some exercise for the lungs is good but as things stand I'm not sure for how long.
Now lets get on with the walk
Having parked at the top of the Underbarrow Road we set off for Cunswick Fell. This shows the distant Howgill Fells.
Usually we go through here to drop down into the valley first but we gave it a miss today as the valley bottoms would be very wet.
Looking towards the Whinfell Ridge which is a lovely walk with a return down the Borrowdale valley. For those newcomers to the site have a look HERE it will open in a new window.
The way ahead
Distant Coniston Fells with just the lightest dusting of snow on the summit
Cunswick Fell summit cairn
My favourite fells .....The Kentmere Fells
Whinfell Ridge
Howgill Fells
Potter Fell
Bowfell and The Langdales
The Crinkle Crags and Bowfell with the Scafell Pike range through the gap of Three Tarns.
The Coniston Fells
Setting off back towards the car and Scout Scar
The height difference seems more in this shot but there is only about 60 feet difference between where I'm standing and Cunswick Fell in the middle of the picture.
We walked along the edge of the scar as far as the cairn where the path comes up from Barrowfield
The lovely Lyth Valley was flooded in places
From the cairn we walked up onto the ridge.
And followed it along to the Trig point seen in the distance
Cunswick Fell summit
From the summit we made our way to the shelter
The "Mushroom" shelter on Scout Scar
I could come up here every day and never be satisfied. Walking back with the Kentmeres ahead
A close up of the top half of the Fairfield Horseshoe with Red Screes in front.
And finally ....back to the car.
Next Walk: 30th October 2008 -- Arnside & Silverdale AONB -- Arnside Knott
Last Walk: 26th October 2008 -- SE Cumbria -- Levens Park from Levens Bridge
