A funny sort of day for this short walk. You could see for miles but the light was so low that getting a decent picture seemed at least for me virtually impossible. The walk itself was no more than a gentle leg stretcher with what climbing there was split between the start and finish of the walk.
The Coniston Fells with what looks like a decent coating of snow on. Taken from the promenade at Morecambe as we set off.
We parked up on the Arnside to Silverdale road near Arnside Tower farm.
A close up of Ingleborough over the still saturated fields.
A short stroll through the woods soon took us to the top of the Knott
Approaching the top
You could see quite a distance from the top but the very poor light spoilt it for pictures. Here I am zooming in on the Fairfield Horseshoe with Red Screes to the right of it.
Across the Kent estuary to the Conistons.
From the south end of the Knott a look towards home.
And with the zoom Blackpool Tower is clearly visible 27.5 miles away
The view point on the Knott with Kents Bank and Humphrey Head below
Autumnal colours in Heathwaite as we descend
Before long we were down on the shore and a visit to see Barry at the Beach Walk Cafe...Best value for money for miles around.
A train crosses the viaduct with Whitbarrow behind.
We didn't walk into the village today. Just before where the cars are parked we took a path upwards that would take us back over the north end of the Knott to the car.
And finally ......back to the car
