Back to square one with the new medication!!.....The day before this walk I started getting bad side effects from the medication which included a loss of balance. Having called the emergency doctor he advised me to stop taking the medication and to contact the Rheumatology Clinic the following day. I phoned them up first thing and they made an appointment for me on the 17th December. The loss of balance seemed to have cleared up but I didn't fancy going on the fells, hence this short walk.
We left the car next to the Borwick Hall canal bridge, which still awaits repair and took the path south along the canal.
Warton Crag from the canal
The day was fairly dull to start and the canalside path was very muddy.
This canal boat was on it's way to Tewitfield.
Looking across the canal to the Capernwray Arm. This short spur originally ran to a small quarry now disused.
The caravan site and private moorings just south of the spur
The railway viaduct that spans the River Keer near Capernwray
Looking down from the Canal Aqueduct over the River Keer
A "carbon free" mode of transport. Note the concrete overflow in front of the canoe which diverts excess water down to the River Keer.
Just past the aqueduct we left the canal to take a series of paths to Kellet Lane.
Something old , something new ....an old bridge and the viaduct as we walk over one and under t'other.
A series of rather muddy lanes followed
But the day was brightening
This lane was littered with what we call crab apples
Finally we emerged onto Kellet Lane.
Looking back over to the viaduct from Kellet Lane
Approaching Manor Farm. We could see the car from here just to the right of the houses in the centre but we carried on to pick up the canal near Tewitfield.
The Methodist Church near the canal at Tewitfield. This is where we got back on the towpath to return to Borwick.
It was a lot brighter now.
A few reflections on the way back
Sander's Farm
Back to Borwick Hall bridge
And finally.....canalside residencies at Borwick
