A gorgeous sunny morning saw us take the short drive from home to park up on the beach at Hest Bank which is the start point for many of the Cross Bay walks which are done on alternate weekends during the summer months. I had wanted to do something a little longer but my right knee is very painful at the moment so this short walk would have to suffice.
The Coniston Fells have what looks to be a good covering in snow.
Our route was along the shore to Morecambe Lodge which is between the trees and Red Bank in the distance
Black Combe also with a snowy summit.
We have now arrived at Morecambe Lodge where we took a lane up to the A5105 and then across to the canal.
Red Bank House.
It didn't take too long to reach the canal. The ice had been broken probably with a boat earlier on in the day.
What is it about reflections that I can't resist!
Broken reflections.
A local makes his way along the canal, sometimes paddling, sometimes walking along the ice.
Until something is done about the Rheumatoid Arthritis medication I am quite happy doing these short flatter walks. Hopefully I can still manage to get out 2/3 times a week.
The canal bridge at Hest Bank
This is where we left the canal to walk back down to the beach.
Walking back down to the beach.
And finally.....back to the car. The Cafe was unfortunately closed.
