We had promised to take the two eldest granddaughters for a walk at half-term and today was our last chance to do it. We had set off for Kendal the previous day but once north of Carnforth the weather was rubbish. Today it was misty but I hoped that it would clear to give a few views. Sadly I was to be disappointed.

Edith, Renee and Sophie at the start. Renee is a poser, Sophie. a reluctant subject for the camera.

Off we go....and Sophie as usual as to lead the way.

Which way now?

Not a lot to see but I was still hopeful that it would clear.

Looking over to Kendal Fell with Kettlewell Crag to the left

The way ahead.

The gorse bush was the only bit of colour to be found, that is apart from the girls cheeks.

Sophie digs in for the steepest part of the walk while Renee prefers Edith to pull her up!

The summit cairn comes into view and as per usual Sophie as to be first there.

The Kentmere Fells are there somewhere!

We had heard this fellow for a while when he appeared out of the mist over Burneside.

Looking down on the Plumgarth roundabout.

Time to make our way back on a different path.

Don't ask!!

Another group picture with a reluctant Sophie.

As we made our way back the mist started to thicken.

However team leader Sophie knows the way!

And finally.....Back to the car.

Next Walk:      22nd February 2009 -- South Cumbria -- Humphrey Head
