We only had time for a shorter day today so it was off to Arnside an area I never tire of.

It was a bit overcast when we arrived but seemed to be brightening from the south.

Our route would take us along the promenade and then follow the shoreline to New Barns.

Ashmeadow House....Once a school but now a residence for the old folk.

Folloing the shoreline now with Grange across the estuary.

A look back

Around this point we left the shoreline as it gets a little rocky in places and I didn't want to aggravate a niggle in my right knee.

Instead we walked through this field which full of flowers.

A bit of an experiment here....we came across a big tank of water with the water beetles fighting for a scrap of food. I was hoping for a better reflection of Edith watching but the water was so mucky it didn't quite work.....oh well!

We emerged back onto the shoreline looking across a carpet of Sea Pinks to New Barns.

The track to New Barns....we however went t'other way for a short distance before taking a path on the right.....

....across the field and into Copridding Wood

The climbing starts here, gentle at first and then a short steep section

Looking across to Grange and Hampsfell from a clearing. Shortly after here comes the steep but short climp up scree to reach the viewpoint just below the summit.

Unfortunately the high fells were shrouded in an haze.

The shrouded Coniston Fells in the far distance.

As we left the viewpoint for the summit we caught a glimpse of home

Looking over the viaduct to Whitbarrow from the summit

A view of Whitbarrow as we descend Redhills

And in close up.

Plenty of colour at eye level. The problem is getting back up!

Edith makes friends with a local.

A look back before we walk down the lane into Arnside

Can't come here without seeing Barry at the cafe

Suitably refreshed its just a short walk back into the town

The car was at the far end of the promenade.
