The walk today was one of our favourite local walks. The day started dull and gray but brightened later and became quite warm.
Looking over to Crag Foot from the car.
After a short walk along the top road we took the old Coach road
We walked along the old Coach road to just below it's summit
Then took the path into the Nature Reserve which would take us to the summit.
A look down the bay towards Heysham showing the many channels which make these sands so dangerous.
The view over Jenny Brown's point to Grange over Sands
Whilst we were on the summit we watched this mixed group of 12 year olds coming up from Warton followed by there leaders. The youngsters were from Liverpool and were staying at Borwick Hall nearby. Plenty of noise but all polite and enjoying themselves. They actually gave us the biggest laugh of the day as there cries of "Please Sir S**** needs a wee" resounded through the woods (Names omitted to protect the innocent!!!)
Following the crag edge down but no Ingleborough today.
Just past this point we leave the Nature Reserve to follow the Old Coach Road for a short time
To enter the area known as Three Brothers
And here's two of them. The third is further back and hidden by the undergrowth.
Limestone pavement
About to leave the Three Brothers for a short walk up the road to Leighton Hall
The path is just past the entrance to the hall.
Looking over to Warton Crag
And over Eaves Wood to Arnside Knott
Descending to Leighton Hall
Leighton Hall
Passing Grisedale farm and it was getting warm now
On the causeway across Leighton Moss
Only this one from the hide which was jammed full of warm "twitchers"
"Crikey Edith the cafe's shut!!".....Fortunately they had a small place along with tents around the back.
A glance of Farleton Fell & Holmepark Fell as we make our way to the car
Almost there
Oooops!!!.....guess who left the window full open?....Nothing taken....Edith's CD's would put most off
