By myself today so it was a short walk at Arnside as we hope to get to the Lakes tomorrow.

The Railway Viaduct across the River Kent.

Looking down the estuary towards Grange

My route would take me along the shoreline for a short way.

Just past here I took a lane leading upwards to the road

At the top of the lane is Yew Tree Cottage. From here I followed the road that leads part way up the Knott

Having left the road I am now walking through Red Hills and looking back

On reaching the trees the path turns back on itself to go up to the Knott.

Onwards and Upwards.

These are the most docile of animals you could wish to come across. There were young amongst them but not one moved as I walked through them.

The summit trig point.

The Lovers tree

Looking down Morecambe Bay to the Power Stations at Heysham

Looking over New Barns and the estuary to Grange

Hazy Lakeland fells

Starting my descent

Copridding Wood

Before long I was back at sea level at New Barns

My return to Arnside was along the shore. Looks like there have been a few pass this this way.

The way back

I am now near to where I left the shore earlier.

Whitbarrow

Back into Arnside.

And who should I meet but Edith who was there with her brother. There's Fish & Chips in that bag and after scrounging a few I left them to return home.

Next Walk:      10th September 2009 - Lake District - Beautiful Borrowdale
