A fine & clear day but a little on the cold side for me nowadays with my chest problems. I'm not sure what the temperature was, probably around the freezing mark but the effect on my breathing was dramatic. Even on this walk which is virtually flat in nature I was gasping and having to stop every minute or so. Fortunately there was plenty to stop for with fantastic views. On the way back I decided not to carry on onto Scout Scar but to drive down the A591 to Ratherheath to see where a company wants to build a Business park within the National Park. For those who may have missed this there is a write up and a few pictures of a short walk in the area HERE.
A bright sunny day as we leave the car park and make our way onto the fell.
There as been quite an hard frost overnight, the car thermo was reading -4C when we left home.
First glimpse of the Howgill Fells over Kendal Fell and Benson Knott.
A twisted tree make the foreground for this view of the Whinfell Ridge.
As we made our way along the ridge the Kentmere Fells come into view
The way ahead.
Having cleared the trees on our left as we walked along the ridge the Coniston & Langdale fells now come into view.
Howgills.
Cunswick Fell summit.
Conistons from the summit.
Crinkle Crags, Bowfell and Langdale Pikes,
Close up Langdales
The long ridge of Red Screes
Glorious Kentmere
Whinfell Ridge
The Howgills over still frosted fields.
A look back as we make our way back to the car
Nearly back and a last look E'wards
