I wasn't feeling 100% this morning, my chest felt a bit tight and breathing a bit laboured. We decided to have a trip out to Muncaster Castle but on seeing how cloudy it was as we drove along the promenade at Morecambe this idea was shelved for a better day. As I drove up the A6 I was thinking of alternatives and nearing Levens Hall decided on this short walk. Not a good day for pictures I'm afraid and just to cap it off as we set off for home the day quickly brightened.

We left the car at the roadside near Levens Bridge and entered the Park to walk up the western side of the River Kent.

It wasn't much of a day but it was fine.

The River Kent is very low after a long dry spell.

Spot the deer on the other side of the river?

A close-up may help.

Don't ask!!!!....3 granddaughters will think this is typical Nan.

We left the park to make our way to Park Head.

Looking over to Sizergh Fell from near Park Head.

Inquisitive looks from some locals.

Cottage at Park Head

The River Leven as we pass under the A590 near Park Head

A very placid Force Falls.

The River Kent from Force Bridge

From Force Bridge we took a path up to the old Lancaster Canal passing Sedgwick House on the way.

As we gained a bit of height the limestone lump of Whitbarrow came into view

Sizergh Fell

Looking over to Scout Scar

Sedgwick House

Well the canal bridges are still here but this section of the canal as been filled in for many years.

A look back as we walk along the canal without getting our feet wet.

We left the canal to cross the A590 and gain entry to Levens Park on t'other side of the river.

A rather unusual limestone seat.

The "feature" near the top of the park

A few of the Bagot goats that inhabit the park

Boys day out!!

Almost at the bottom of the park now.....wonder if the cafe is open

Levens Hall

Levens Bridge and the River Kent

Fritillaries

The garden by the cafe

The old Flood Marker Stones

The River Kent as we walk back to the car
