Another walk today that didn't involve too much travelling. We left the car in a lay-by on the A6 just south of Beetham and after walking through the quiet village took the path in the Deer Park. We followed this path down to the Old Bridge and then followed the River Bela towards Milnthorpe Bridge. After crossing the road we continued to follow the Bela unyil the path took us onto the trackbed of an old railway line into Sandside. After crossing the road we took a path upwards through the woods and over Haverbrack from where we returned to Beetham and the car.

Beetham Hall and farm with its Pele Tower.

The village Stocks in Beetham.

St Michael's Church...The tower dates from the late 12th Century

The River Bela and the Heron Corn Mill which dates from around 1740.

The start of the path into the Deer Park.

Looking across the Deer Park.

Sheep and Deer find some shade under the tree.

Looking down to Dallam Tower with Milnthorpe Bridge and Whitbarrow ahead as we walk to the Old Bridge.

Dallam Tower

Having walked down to the Old Bridge we followed the banks of the River Bela towards Milnthorpe Bridge.

Milnthorpe Bridge

We have now crossed the road to continue along the banks of the Bela.

The River Bela will eventually swing to the left to join the River Kent.

A look over to Haverbrack over which we will walk soon.

Whitbarrow over the Bela.

Looking south to Sandside. Our path now joins the old railway line for a short distance then we cross the road.....

...to take the path up through the woods.

Whitbarrow across the Kent estuary with Lakeland behind from where we cross a minor road to continue up Haverbrack.

Almost at the top and views are extensive.

Milnthorpe with the Howgills behind.
