After a breezy and wet morning the early afternoon gave way to drier weather and some blue skies. As I was by myself, Edith being at brothers for the day, I decided to have a run out to Kendal to see how the views were from the scars. As will be seen the views that I had been hoping for didn't appear but still an enjoyable short walk.

Route Map

A couple of minutes from the car park and I'm on the open fell and it looks promising with those views to the Howgills.

The Whinfell Ridge looks clear to.

I walked along the ridge hoping that the views to the north and west would be as good.

A first view of the Kentmere fells and there's more cloud about.

A view right along the ridge brings a little disappointment but who knows it may clear.

As I clear the trees, the Conistons come into view but not very good views.

The Howgills over Benson Knott remain clear however.

The rather extravagant summit cairn on Cunswick Fell.

Views to the Conistons are poor and to the Langdales non existent.

Hazy Eastern and Far Eastern views.

Reston Scar in mid picture.

Potter Fell catches a glimpse of light.

Majestic Howgills.

Time to go as the clouds to the west thicken.

These were the only locals I saw today.

A look to Middleton Fell as I return.
