A genuine "spur of the moment" walk. Edith was at her brothers and it was FA Cup Semi-Final day with a live match on the TV. However with a none too bad sort of day weather-wise I thought I could just fit this short walk in and get back in time for the kick-off. Afraid I missed some of the first half though as it was difficult to leave on such a grand day.

The car was left on the Arnside - Silverdale road near Arnside Knott farm. The visibility towards Ingleborough was pretty good.

My route would be along the bridleway around the south end of the Knott towards the car park.

Arnside Tower Farm and the Pele Tower.

A pleasant walk along the bridleway with easy gradients....

....took me to where the path up from Heathwaite joins on the left and where I would leave the bridleway to turn right for the walk up to the viewpoint.

A choice here, the path to the viewpoint on the left is by far the better one.

Looking over the Kent estuary to Grange and Hampsfell

And down Morecambe Bay to home.

Looking over Silverdale and Heald Brow to Clougha Pike and the hills of Bowland.

I'm at the viewpoint now and Hampsfell is under a cloud.

The Coniston Fells over Cartmel Fell

Looking N'wards from the viewpoint towards the Eastern, Far Eastern and Shap Fells.

Distant Howgills.

Again in close up.

A zoom in on the Fairfield & Helvellyn Fells over little Yewbarrow.

Looking down the bay as I make my way to the summit.

There's a seaside icon in view.....NOOOO.....not the Power Stations. Look closer about 1.25" to the right of them.....

Blackpool Tower.

Nearly there as I pass the Lover's Tree.

A gleaming trig point.

Ingleborough peeks through the trees.

The Howgills over Storth and the quarry at Sandside.

A seat with a view........and a bit of a bend to!!

Time to descend...but a few pictures from Redhills....Looking southwards over the Cartmel Peninsula to the Furness Peninsula

Over New Barns to Hampsfell

The Conistons over Cartmel Fell

Eastern Lakeland over Whitbarrow

A wider view

I descended Redhills to take a path down and through the woods

Walking through RedHill Wood took me back to the road...

.....and back to the car.

Next Walk:      17th April 2011 - Lake District - Disappointment then Joy at Staveley

Last Walk:       15th April 2011 - South Cumbria - Around Cartmel & Cark
