After a wet morning the afternoon promised to be a bit better so we decide on this walk in the Warton/Silverdale area.

Route Map

We parked up at Crag Foot to walk to Jenny Brown's Point.

Looking over to Crag Foot and Warton Crag.

We set off along the causeway to Jenny Brown's

It was quite bright looking ahead towards Heald Brow.

Behind us towards Lancaster however there was a lot of dark Clouds moving up thecoast.

A "new" doggy gate as been installed at the stile at the end of the causeway.

Looking over to Warton Crag.

The salt marsh as all but gone now as we approach the old chimney.

The clouds were building all the time but we are still in sunshine.

Brown's Cottages.

Looking across and down the Bay, Lancaster as disappeared under the cloud yet Heysham is in the sun......sounds about right!! ;-)

From Jenny Brown's we made our way to the National Trust's Jack Scout where the views across to Humphrey Head and the Furness peninsula beyond were good.

We were just a few minutes too late to see the tidal bore passing by as we walked along the cliff path at Jack Scout.

Looking over to Grange...

....and to Heysham.

The Giant's Seat was occupied as we approached but we had no intention of stopping as the rumble of thunder was now in the air.

A glistening Morecambe Bay in the afternoon sun.

We made our way back to the lane....

....which we followed past Lindeth Tower...

....and the farm....

....where Dr Doolittle was nearly in with the calves.

Hampsfell from near Gibraltar Farm.

A lovely residence at Gibraltar with the dark clouds behond.

A short walk from Gibraltar took us to Woodwell..

....from where a short walk took us back to the road....

.....which we followed to reach this path back down to the causeway.

Walking down through the woods...

....this sheet of limestone always catches my eye....

The thunder is receeding now although the sky is still dark over Warton Crag.

I think we have been quite fortunate to have done this walk in bright sunshine without a drop of rain falling on us.

Trowbarrow in the distance

And finally.....back to the car.

Next Walk:      9th July 2011 - NW Lancashire - The Coast & Canal at Bolton-le-Sands
