---------------------------------------------------------------

After a morning visiting the family we decided on this short walk from Silverdale which on a lovely afternoon was a delight.

Route Map

We left the car in Silverdale and walked down to The Lots.

This building used to be the Post Office. A Facebook reader recently told be that the field behind used to the called the "Post Office Lots"...

.....nowadays however it is just "The Lots".....probably from Allotments.

It is a lovely walk across these fields with views to Grange ahead...

.....there are two groups of Cross-Bay walkers making there way across the sands.

A look back over the cottages towards home.

Looking down the bay to Humphrey Head.

A view down onto The Cove

A look back from the shore at The Cove.

Whilst I was taking the pictures there was the sound of a brass band playing......what's going on?

Explanation!

The start of our path up through Elmslack.

Looking down to Silverdale as we make our way up through Elmslack.

In Elmslack we took the path towards Arnside Tower (l) until we reached the wall stile (r) leading into Holgates Caravan Park....

....where we turned right to follow the path up through Eaves Wood to the Pepper Pot.

Looking over Silverdale and the bay towards home as I reach the escarpment.

The Pepper Pot

From the Pepper Pot I took the track down to the car park. There are no views on this section but for those, like I.....

....who enjoy woodland walking and limestone scenery it is a delight.

Having reached the car park I crossed the road to take the lane along The Row....

.....before leaving it here to take the field paths back to Silverdale.

And finally.....back to Silverdale.

Next Walk:      11th July 2011 - Lake District - Cunswick Fell & Scout Scar

Last Walk:       9th July 2011 - Local - Lancashire Coastal Way & Canal at Hest Bank
