Another early afternoon walk after a rather dull morning. We never tire of this walk along the Kendal Scars. It offers great views for little effort.
Having left the car at the top of the road we walked through the small copse to gain access to the fell.
The Howgill Fells tower over Benson Knott and Kendal Fell ahead.
A promise of better things to come as we make our way to the wall corner.
Our way ahead
Again from the cross fence....this is a popular spot with both walkers and fellrunners yet we have it all to ourselves at present.
The Coniston & Langdale Fells come into view as we make our way along the ridge.
A look back.
Coniston Fells
The Howgill Fells over Benson Knott.
Cunswick Fell summit cairn
That cloud as been hanging there all the time blocking the sun. Whitbarrow across the Lyth Valley.
The Coniston Fells are catching some sun....
....as are the Crinkle Crags, Bowfell and other Langdale Fells.
Looking to the head of Kentmere.
The Whinfell Ridge.
Shady Howgills.
From Cunswick we walked back along the ridge, past the car and up onto Scout Scar.
Cunswick is now catching the sun as we make our way onto the escarpment.
Glorious Kentmere.
We followed the edge southwards but with plenty of stops to look back.
Our way ahead and taken into the sun which as now made an appearance.
We followed the edge until we reached the big cairn above Barrowfield where we left the edge to visit the summit.
Looking down on Barrowfield.
Scout Scar trig point.
From here we made our way back to the scar edge.
Well on our way back now and the "Mushroom" is now in view.
A last lingering look before we descend....
....And finally.....back to the car.
