---------------------------------------------------------------

It is just twelve months since we did a similar walk to this at Levens Park and we have been keeping our eyes on the trees at the bottom of the park for the last week or two in anticipation of some nice autumnal colours. Also it is that time of year when the stags in the park go about there "duty" and it makes it easier to catch a sight of them when their minds are on over things.

Route Map

We had been keeping our eyes on the changing colours as we passed Levens and now they seemed just right. Unfortunately strong winds have partially stripped some of the leaves in the last few days.

The River Kent from Levens Bridge.

We decided to walk up the eastern side of the park to try and catch a view of the Bagot Goats.

Looking across the Kent to what will be our return route.

One of the local residents. It's maybe the wrong colour for some but just one of Gods creatures to us.

This old tree looks like how I feel some mornings.

A close up of a couple of hinds in the woods.

As we neared the top of the park we saw some of the Bagot Goats. We left the path to walk over towards them.

There are a number of these goats in the park. A rare breed originally brought to this country at the time of Richard the Lion Heart.

Colourful Fungi.

Leaving the park we had a short walk on quiet lanes here crossing the A590

The River Kent from Sedgwick Bridge.

From Sedgwick Bridge we walked down the lane to Force Falls....

From Force Falls our path went under the A590....

...towards Park Head with a view of The Helm.

At Park Head we left the lane to take the path near the gate back into Levens Park.

Looking over to Sizergh Fell as we walk across the fields towards the park.

Back in the park we were now looking out for the deer which are usually on this side of the river.

It wasn't too long before we spotted some. This time last year the stags were busy in the rutting season but today they were just chilling out.

It was quite easy to get pictures last year as the stags minds were elsewhere. Today it wasn't quite as good.

Pictures taken we now continued down the park.

Another small group of deer.

Back at the bottom of the park we decided to have our coffee by the river....

....where it was surprisingly warm for November.

All that was left now was a short walk through the trees towards the road.

Next Walk:      3rd November 2011 - NW Lancashire - A walk around Glasson.

Last Walk:       28th October 2011 - Lake District - Heughscar Hill & Moor Divock from Askham
