---------------------------------------------------------------

I was by myself for this walk as Edith was at her brothers for the day. After dropping her off I was straight away to the RSPB Visitor Centre at Leighton Moss for this walk which gave me the option of a bit more climbing if I included Warton Crag.

My route.

It was a glorious morning as I made my way from the RSPB Visitor Centre towards the the causeway.

I had sole occupancy of the Public Hide but without binoculars there wasn't too much for me to see....

....although at the far side of the pool an armada of swans were gliding across the still water.

Looking back along the causeway.

My favourite spot near the end of the causeway....

....where a pair of Greylag Geese put in an appearance.

Looking the other way towards the reedbeds.

After leaving the causeway I continued along the bridleway towards Leighton Hall.

There were lots of these colourful chappies in the adjacent fields.

Grisedale Farm as I pass by.

A short walk along the lane brought me to Leighton Hall.

From the hall the path leads up Summer House Hill.

Looking over towards Warton Crag which was on my "may do" route but which by now was not due to continued problems with my neck.

The view from Summer House hill down the hazy bay...

...and over Leighton Moss to Arnside Knott and Hampsfell.

I know I promised not to do these scary ones too often but an handy seat made a good tripod.

A short walk down the road past the entrance to Leighton Hall...

....took me to the start of my return path....

....which after following the wall for a while left the main path at the waymarker...

...to descend through the woods on a waymarked path...

...and then through some open hillside...

...before crossing the fields above Leighton Moss..

....and a final descent through the woods...

...to Crag Foot.

From Crag Foot it was a road walk to the Visitor Centre...

...but the road was quiet and there was plenty to see along the way...

....and I was soon passing Slackwood Farm....

.....where the lambs were playing or chilling in the nearby fields.

Silverdale Golf Club.

Back at the Visitor Centre...

....where this little chappie shared some seeds that Edith had left in the car boot.
