I am still having a few problems with my neck so today's walk was just a walk to School Knott and then see if I felt like doing more. Fortunately although sore the neck wasn't too bad and we decided to carry and do Brant Fell. Both these small Outlying Fells of Lakeland offer superb views and we had a day to see them at there best.

Route

There was lots of Mayflower about as we set off along the lane towards School Knott.

I'm not sure whether it's been sold or not, the estate agents sign had been broken off.

A first glimpse of the Coniston Fells.

Ahead of us Red Screes.

At the fingerpost we left the lane to start the short climb towards School Knott.

A short walk and climb brought us to School Knott Tarn. With a fresh breeze there were no reflections to be had today.

After visiting the far end of the tarn...

....we started to make our way up School Knott with fine views towards Kentmere.

Before long we were on School Knott with magnificent views over Claife Heights to the Conistons....

...and to the Crinkle Crags and Bowfell with England's finest behind.

A wider view over Windermere.

Looking towards Kirkstone with the Fairfield fells to the left.

Looking over to Reston Scar and Brunt Knott.

A lovely viewpoint.

We descended down to the lane back to Cleabarrow passing the cottages at Old Droomer.

My neck wasn't playing up too much so we decided to walk over to Brant Fell.

Looking down on Matson Ground with Brant Fell behind.

The pond at Matson Ground.

Brant Fell...our route goes to the right to ascend it from the right hand side.

A final climb as we pass the old reservoir.

Looking over Orrest Head towards the Kentmere fells as we take a breather.

Made it!!...Looking along Windermere through the old gate posts.

Looking over Windermere to the Coniston fells.

There was more cloud about now than in the early part of the walk but the views were lovely.

After descending we were left with a short walk along the B5284...

....which returned us back to the car.
