A walk to our favourite hill from Silverdale via The Cove and Heathwaite with a return via The Pepperpot in Eaves Wood on an absolutely gorgeous morning when we saw our first orchids of the year.

Route

It was a glorious day as we set off across the fields from Silverdale and it wasn't long before Edith was getting her doggie biscuits out.

There was a hot air balloon passing over the Knott and Heathwaite.

The lady with the dog pointed out that the early orchids were popping up.

Looking back towards home over the shoreside cottages.

And over to Grange and Hampsfell.

It was hard not to stop and admire the views.

Looking down on The Cove.

OK, so today's walk starts at sea level.

One of the Alpaca's as we walk up Cove Road.

Passing through Holgates Caravan Park.

Arnside Knott.

Making our way to Hollins Farm and Heathwaite

Heathwaite was a mass of early orchids and Cowslips. Although only small...

....by now it will be covered.

Looking back down Heathwaite...

....and ahead towards the Knott.

A short rest part way up at the two seats.

And then onwards to the viewpoint.

Viewpoint Views....too Humphrey Head...

...over New Barns to Grange and Hampsfell..

...distant Lakeland...

...Whitbarrow and Lakeland...

....and a wider view.

A view down the Bay as we make our way to the summit..

Lakeland from the summit seat.

A rest at the top of Red Hills and more views..

We descended from the Knott through the woods to the Silverdale - Arnside road before taking the path through Arnside Tower farm to Arnside Tower.

Arnside Tower.

From the tower we walked through the woods at the top of Holgates Caravan park to make our way to...

Eaves Wood and a visit to The Pepper Pot.

It's only a short climb if done from Silverdale but gives lovely views as a reward.

Leaving the Pepper Pot we descended to Elmslack through the woods...

...a visit to the war memorials.

And finally....lots of these tired little chappies in the field next to the school.
