It was a lovely if somewhat hazy afternoon and Edith was fed up with staying in. She had visited the doctors 2 days earlier with what we thought was bronchitis but the doctor adopted a "lets see how it goes" attitude despite Ediths history of Brochial problems. The following day she returned to the Doctors and was put on Antibiotics.
From near the start of the walk. Looking over the Kendal Golf Club to Benson Knott and the distant Howgill Fells
The route along the scar to Cunswick Fell summit
These 3 ladies were doing a "leaflet walk" from Kendal along the scars but had gone off course a little. A little help soon had them back on their way.
Distant and hazy Conistons.
Almost there!
The hunter waits!....but the little beggar wouldn't turn around
Cunswick Fell summit cairn.
Looking over Potter Fell towards the Shap Fells
The Whinfell Ridge
Upper Kentmere close up
Reston Scar
The Crinkle Crags, Bowfell and Pikes in silhouette.
Setting off back and a look towards the Golf course. The little "knobble" to the left is Kettlewell Crag.
Hazy Howgills
A look back
Looking over the A591 to Kendal Fell, Benson Knott and distant Howgills
and to the Whinfell Ridge
As we walked back towards the car we noticed that as the sun got lower the haziness seemed to thin, not much but enough to encourage us to visit Scout Scar which had not been my original intention with Edith not being so good.
Looking N'wards as we do the short climb onto Scout Scar.
Far from perfect, but definitely clearer.
As the sun got lower the fells started to catch that pink glow
To the south however the mist was starting to fill the Lyth Valley with Whitbarrow only just visible
Edith was more concerned about being in the sun than facing the views.
Time to take our leave.
A quick dash home just gave me time to catch the setting sun over Sunderland Point from Overton.
