An unusual walk in some respects in that my start point at the Gummer's How car park was actually higher than the Outlying Fell of Raven's Barrow. I was by myself today as Edith was waiting for an engineer to come & fix the shower. Again not the best of days for photography. I left home in brilliant sunshine but when I parked up it was dull and overcast although it did brighten a touch on the way back.

A glimpse of The Hoad at Ulverston as I walk up to Sow How lane.
Gummer's How from Sow How lane
Aproaching Sow How farm
I'm sure I saw more but they scarpered as I approached
Sow How farm
Sow How Tarn. I had been hoping for more in the way of relections
The next section goes through the woods
First views of Cartmel Fell
Heights Cottage.....what a wonderfully isolated place to be
On the way to the summit
Coming from this direction the cairn is not visible until the last moment as it lays below the highest point
A wonderfully constructed cairn which according to Wainwright is known locally as Ravensbarrow Old Man
This is the Wainwright way up from St Antony's Church which is hidden below.
A look down the lower Winster valley to Morecambe Bay
The knobble ahead appears to be the highest point. There was a track to it but not a single stone as a summit cairn and best left that way.
Back at Heights Cottage
A little more clearer view as it brightened a bit.
The boathouse at Sow How Tarn
An inquisitive youngster
Back at the farm
And the grey one as been joined by the rest of the bunch.

I had thought of popping up Gummers How will save it for a better day & views
