A lovely fine sunny day and after many days of wet & windy weather it would have been great to get up to the Lakes especially when we saw snow on the felltops. However we had other things to do today and it was rather a tight squeeze even to fit this short walk in.

We left the car on the Arnside - Silverdale top road which saves a couple of hundred feet of ascent.

The path contours around the eastern end of the Knott

A bit slippy in places but with no problems

A first glimpse of the Coniston Fells

Again in close up

Looking across the River Kent to Whitbarrow with snowy topped fells behind

The Holly and the ...err Trig Point

Looking towards Sandside from the summit

A few locals chew the cud.

Directly into the sun, a look down Morecambe Bay.

We are now at the viewpoint and looking towards Whitbarrow over the railway viaduct......spot the train?

Far Eastern Fells over Whitbarrow. Pity about that bank of cloud.

Coniston Fells

And again

Grange & Hampsfell over the Kent estuary

The low lying Outlying Fell of Humphrey Head over Heathwaite. It would have been grand to have lingered awhile but time was short.

Looking back up the path to the viewpoint (l) as we make our way down to the bridleway (r)

A pleasant return through the woods along the bridleway back to the car.
