We had actually set off from home just have a drive around but as we went along the promenade we saw that there might be some views on offer. As we had the boots in the back of the car we decided to go to Cunswick Fell. However on taking the Underbarrow road out of Kendal I could see that things had changed and that there was a lot of misty clag about. However there were bits of blue showing throgh the mist so we decided to carry on and do the short walk anyway.

If dear reader you have not seen the views from Cunswick Fell please do not dismiss it out of hand. Instead please take a look HERE. It will open a previous visit up here when the views were superb. I usually post links towards the end but in this case have done it here just in case you don't make it to the end.

Once we left the car park and made our way onto the ridge we saw that although the ridge was mist clear the views around were virtually nil.

A backwards look to Scout Scar

Kettlewell Crag on Kendal Fell (l)                                            and our way ahead along the ridge (r)

Twisted & stunted tree                                                          The clag starts to roll in again

Looking over the A591 to Kendal Fell

It would have been very easy to have called it a day here. We couldn't even see the summit of Cunswick Fell but we decided to carry on as there was still some blue above us.

Getting a little clearer. Instead of going straight for the summit I decided to walk around it to the east to waste some time in the hope that things would clear a little.

A glimpse of Kendal below us as it clears a little but Benson Knott is in the murk.

Blue skies as we head towards the summit.

The lower slopes of Potter Fell

And there's Benson Knott!

This is about as good as it got despite waiting near the summit for 15 minutes.

Cunswick Fell summit.

The Coniston & Langdale Fells are that way!.....If you can't use your imagination click on the link at the top! ;-)

After 15 minutes waiting we decided to call it a day and set of back.

Kendal and an about to disappear Benson Knott.

These locals were largely unconcerned about the views.

A look back towards the summit before another bank of clag rolled in.

Mossy trees                                                         A welcome car park ...wonder what stamp collectings like!
