Saturdays are always difficult for us as Edith visits her brother later in the day so we need to be back to get fed and watered in good time. Arnside Knott, one of our favourite local walks fits the bill perfectly. A short drive, a varied walk and usually good views. Today we only got 2 out of 3 but it was still enjoyable.

We left the car on the promenade near the Big Chippy in case we wanted to partake later.

A beautiful sunny morning but I had noticed a band of mucky looking hazy stuff from the promenade at Morecambe.

Looking over to Grange and Hampsfell hoping that it will clear a little.

Whitbarrow over the viaduct. You cam just see snowy fells to the left.

It had frozen hard overnight. The normally muddy beach was easy walking.

The River Kent was so peacfull that reflections were possible but not clear.

Looking back to Whitbarrow as a gull gets in the picture.

Back along the shoreline to Arnside

A Curlew (I think) makes it way to the water.

To wait patiently for breakfast to come its way.

Smoke signals on Hampsfell?

I couldn't decide which of these I liked best so you've got them both - Looking over to New Barns

Rippled sands

A look back as we leave the shore to walk up the Knott

Passing a few locals on the way.

The climb took us up through Copridding Wood

And then up the scree to the viewpoint

Looking over New Barns to Grange and Hampsfell

A close up over Newton Fell and the The Coniston Fells are barely visible through the haze.

Over Whitbarrow the Far Easter Fells can just be picked out.

The Lovers Tree                                                                                                  The summit Trig Point

Those to the north and west of the mucky stuff were also emjoying a gorgeous day.....there seems to be more of this than there used to be......pollution?

Makking our way down Red Hills

"See no evil"

"Speak no evil"......couldn't find the ears for t'other

Looking back over Red Hills

A short walk down the road and turn right, then at Yew Tree Cottage (l) go down the lane back to the beach.

Now there's a mist rolling up the estuary!....Grange as gone!

Heading back to Arnside.

A couple of anglers try there luck. October is the best time for fishing here.

And finally....back to Arnside
