We had been promising the two eldest granddaughters to do this walk again for some time and with a spell of warm, sunny weather promised it was decided earlier in the week that we would do it today. We were joined also by our son Dave (yes, another one) and his wife Svetlana and the youngest member of the Brown clan 3 year old Nicole. The final member of the team was Harvey, a single brain cell Boxer but an absolute bucket of fun.
Hey!!!.....what about a group shot....no chance as off they go.
C'mon Granddad.....Nicole is keeping a check on me whilst holding on to Nan.
Renee, Svetlana and Sophie
She's not crying, just doesn't like looking into the sun.
It was quite warm and before long fleeces, sweaters etc are being discarded.
The dynamic duo are off.
Harvey takes on water. Harvey is a rather unusual character, a vegetarian dog. Meat brings him out in a skin rash. He is not averse to a block of butter complete with wrapping however if Lana doesn't put the shopping away quickly.
There is still an hazeto the day but the Kentmere Fells are looking pretty good.
Sophie and Renee are out in front. This walk is great for young ones.
First views of the Coniston Fells
The final climb and those two are getting warmer. Sweaters have been passed to me, pants have been rolled up and likewise t-shirts.
The tongue is getting longer.
Bad news girls!!!.....that's the top up ahead.
Nicole however was in fellrunning mode.
Sophie as made it to the summit cairn.
Nicole as got her directions a little wrong.
Well they have all made it, what about the rest.
Drinks all round.
The Coniston Fells
The Crinkle Crags and Bowfell
The Langdales
Beautiful Kentmere
Fairfield and Red Screes over Reston Scar
Feeding time.
Harvey finds a friend.
Very hazy Howgills
Nicole tries Nans hat on
Slurp, slurp!
Sadly it was soon time to retrace our steps.
The Whinfell Ridge
At the top of Gamblesmire Lane and only a few hundred feet from the cars Harvey found a new water supply.
And finally back to the car.
