Yet another appointment at my doctors wiped out the morning although to be fair the day wasn't up to much weather-wise. However in the afternoon it did look as if it was trying to brighten so we took ourselves off for this short easy walk.

Route Map

A look across the marsh towards Glasson Dock and towards Overton on the other side of the River Lune.

The old railway bridge over the River Conder which would be our return route.

The Stork at Conder Green looked rather welcoming under grey skies, but the temptation was resisted.

A look back and I'm wondering if this is such a good idea. However we wanted to see if we could find any Swans on the nest so.....onwards.

The Mill Inn. Can you guess what it used to be?

We headed off along the canal towards Glasson wondering if we would see any swans on the nest.

There were this pair in the field near Mill Farm but no nest in sight.

Approaching Thurnham Bridge and it's quite breezy.

A look back towards the Bowland hills.

An inquisitive youngster came to say hello and see if there was any food.

Brick Kiln Bridge.

Another one on the scrounge.

We left the canal here to take the road round to the marina. We would return along the section ahead later.

Looking back along the canal from Brows Bridge.

The chucks were in the road near the Marina entrance. There as been a cargo of animal feed discharged at Glasson Dock recently and one of the wagons must have had a slight leak.

This boat was here on our last visit and appears to be in the same state of repair.

This boat caught my eye. Built on the same lines as Morecambe Bay "Nobby" although slightly longer. Maybe built for Fleetwood.

From the marina we walked up the road to the school where we cut through the gardens to access a path around the marina.

Not the best of days but we are out and about.

And we did find what we were seeking. In a brief moment of nest reorganisation we saw at least 3 eggs.

The path follows the edge of the marina round to Glasson Dock.

A local fisherman waits for dinner.

Glasson Dock.

Our return was along the marina....

.....and the canal....

....back to Brows Bridge where we left the canal...

....to return to Conder Green along the old railway line.

And finally.....a pot of tea and a scone.
