Yet another glorious morning although a very hazy one. I was by myself today and didn't want to travel too far so decided on this walk along a section of the Dales Way near Staveley.

Route Map

Looking down towards Reston Scar

I first had to cross a small piece of land between where I was parked and the A591 where these youngsters took an immediate interest.

The stile out onto the A591 caused them problems though.

Looking over to Potter Fell as I walk down the lane towards Bowston Farm.

Crossing the railway line to Windermere.

Passing through Bowston Farm.

A short walk through Bowston. I left the village on a path on the other side of the road near the white building which is part of the Dales Way path.

Approaching Cowan Head

Cowan Head

Leaving Cowan Head to follow the River Kent.

It took a while to catch them on camera but seemed worth it.

Walking alongside the river now and approaching the bridge to Hagg Foot.

Lots of lambs in the fields now.

A glimpse of Reston Scar as I approach Staveley.

Reston Scar as I am about to leave the Dale Way.

Craggy Wood from the same place.

I exited onto the Staveley road and walked back to the rail crossing to take the path shown here.

The path took me across the field to exit onto the A591 which I crossed to take a path directly opposite.

The path leads up to this house but then turns off to the right.

Reston Scar

My path eventually joined Ashes Lane here looking back to Ashes.

I popped into the campsite for a cooling drink.

The final section of the walk leaves Ashes Lane to go through the woods back to the car.

Next Walk:      21st April 2011 - South Cumbria - A Haverthwaite Circular

Last Walk:       18th April 2011 - South Cumbria - The Northern Reaches at Crooklands
