After yesterdays walk I was again bothered with a reoccurrence of my recent stomach problems. I hadn't had a lot of sleep and felt quite weak. However it was a fine day with quite a bit of sun so I decided that a walk along the Kendal Scars would be OK. On our way there I called into the chemist and got some DiaFix Capsules just in case. However this short walk out along Cunswick Fell was enough for me so Scout Scar was left for another day.
From the car park a short walk through a small copse....
....leads out onto the open fell with a view ahead of the Whinfell Ridge.
A look back to the repeater station near the car park.
My intention had been to go left here down Gamblesmire Lane but not feeling too great I decided it would be better to stay on the ridge route.
What a difference a day makes. After yesterdays dull conditions today it is fine and bright and the breeze is only gentle.
An interested local watches as I get a picture of The Howgills and Benson Knott peeping over Kendal Fell.
There are still quite a few orchids about.
The Hawthorns are in full blossom as we head along the ridge with the fells of the Kentmere Horseshoe ahead.
This as to be one of the best "value for effort" walks in South Lakeland. The views on the right day are fantastic.
The Whinfell Ridge to the NNE.
The Howgills and Benson Knott to the NE
Ahead of us Eastern and Far Eastern delight.
Eastwards to the Conistons.
Nearly there.
A look southwards to Whitbarrow
Across the Lyth Valley and the northern end of Whitbarrow to the Conistons.
Crinkles, Bowfell, Langdales and more.
Sour Howes, Sallows, Wansfell and distant Fairfield Fells.
Kentmere glory.
Over Plumgarths to the Whinfell Ridge
The Howgill Fells
It's time to leave....
....passing by the cairn...
.....although still along the ridge we returned via a path more to the eastwards.
Last look back
And finally.....back to the car
