The day again started dull with some light drizzly rain which was just as well because my stomach had given me another night of disturbed sleep. Edith decided to catch up with the shopping and see how the day developed. Around 13:30hrs it started to brighten a little so having taken a DiaFix Capsule we set off for Arnside and this short walk.

Route Map

Arnside Tower & Farm from our parking spot.

We walked down to and passed through the farm.

A gloomy looking Farleton Knott as we walked down to the farm.

Arnside Knott and the farm from near the tower.

Arnside Tower.

From the tower we walked down the lane towards the caravan & campsite.

Just before reaching the clubhouse we diverted right to walk across the fields to Far Arnside.

Humphrey Head and Kents Bank as we cross the fields.

Arnside Knott

Edith makes another new friend near Far Arnside....

....but it is unimpressed with her offering of a dog biscuit!!

Looking over to Hollins Farm & campsite where a new toilet and shower facilities are being installed.

We passed by Hollins Farm to enter Heaththwaite.

Looking over Hollins Farm to Silverdale and across the bay.

Leaving Heathwaite we started the climb up the Knott with views over to Grange & Hampsfell,...

....and over Silverdale to the hills of Bowland.

Looking down the bay towards home.

Meanwhile takes five on one of the benches.

A short walk took us to the viewpoint with views over Humphrey Head to the Furness peninsula.

Over New Barns to Grange and Hampsfell.

Over Cartmel Fell to the Coniston Fells

And finally over Whitbarrow to the Helvellyn, Fairfield and Kentmere Fells.

Leaving the viewpoint a short walk took us to the summit....

.....to the seat that looks like it's had a bit of use ( and weight) placed upon it.  ;-)

As we started the descent down Red Hills the sun had disappeared to be replaced with high white cloud.

However to the eye the views were good and no doubt if I bothered about reading the camera manual the pictures could be improved.

It was easy to linger a while as we made our way down....

....in the hope that the sun would return.

But sadly it was not to be....

A final descent through the woods...

.....and out onto the road a few yards from the car.

Next Walk:      25th May 2011 - Arnside & Silverdale - The Knott from Eaves Wood

Last Walk:       19th May 2011 - Lake District - Cunswick Fell
