---------------------------------------------------------------

After the previous days walk at Sunderland Point I was hoping for a lot more from this walk. After a couple of days of frosty weather I was hoping that the towpath would be hard and crispy but when we arrived at a dull & overcast Conder Green I knew this might not be the case. However we carried on as planned and the walk was completed. The last few pictures come from a short walk the following day after I had been for an appointment at the hospital at Lancaster.....At least they may brighten things up.

We arrived at the picnic site at Conder Green to a crime scene. A while pick-up type vehicle that had been stolen from somewhere had been abandoned here and set alight. The Fire service , Police and Council workers were in attendance.

Leaving the picnic site we made our way towards the canal. The old railway bridge over the River Conder would be our return route from Glasson Dock.

A short walk from the picnic site brought us to the Lancaster - Knott End road at the The Stork. We followed this road to..

....the road bridge over the River Conder with a look back from whence we came...

....and the other way to the barely visible hills of Bowland. We left the main road just over the bridge to take the lane towards the canal.

It was already apparent from the state of the fields that an hard crisp towpath to walk on would only be in our dreams,...

...and when we arrived at The Mill we found not only a muddy and very slippy towpath but a drained canal as the lock gates were being repaired.

Looking along the canal to where I usually look for reflections and it is only the bright plastic barrier that adds colour.

Not a lot you can say is there?

As I was taking this picture Edith said she could hear a lamb. I'm hard of hearing and also have Tinnitus so couldn't hear nowt. Neither could we see owt but......

....with the aid of the cameras zoom I managed to get this rather fuzzy picture. We were then on the lookout for more but sadly didn't see any.

We did see this chappie in the fields on the other side of the canal. He looked as fed up as I and could only give us a cursory glance as we passed.

This section of the towpath wasn't quite as muddy due to it being further away from access points.

Approaching Glasson Dock now where the canal had been dammed by the bridge ahead.

Life goes on as normal for these magnificent creatures.

And then there was water!!

Looking across a rather grey marina at the various boats most of which move no further than here...

....to each there own I suppose but for me a boat is a living thing, meant to be used.

We carried on to the salt-water dock which was rather quiet today.

From Glasson we made our way back to the car along the trackbed of the old railway line.

Looking up the tidal River Lune towards Lancaster.

Nearly back.....is it open?

Yes!!!....the brightest part of the day.

The following day.

I had an appointment in Lancaster the following morning and when it was over we decided to have a run out towards Cockersands Abbey for a short walk along the Lancashire Coastal Way to see if we could see the lambs Edith had heard the previous day.

Success !

The ruins of Cockersands Abbey. The Chapter House is the main part of the Abbey founded before 1184.

We had a short walk along the Lancashire Coastal Way....

....before returning for a few pictures of the lambs.

Looks like someone's been a bit to liberal with the iodine.
