Edith had been quite worried about my dizzy spells on the previous walk although I assured her that it was probably a combination of the heat and the Osteo-Arthritis in my neck which has bothered me for years. After a days rest and with the weather more like summer than early spring we agreed on this short walk to see how I got on.

Our route.

After a drive along the promenade at Morecambe we arrived at Hest Bank where we parked on the foreshore.

It was a very hazy morning and any distant views could be forgotten about, here looking back towards Morecambe only a mile or so away.

Hest Bank is the start point for the famous Cross-Bay walks although Arnside is also used.

It was a lovely bright sunny morning as we made our way towards Red Bank and already quite warm.

There was little point in walking up the field at Red Bank as there was nowt to see so we carried on along the shore.

Warton Crag at just over 500' and only 2 or 3 miles away should be in the centre of the picture but on this occasion an active imagination may help.

Passing by Red Bank Farm and Archer's Cafe is open but on this occasion ignored.

Up to now we have been following the course of the Lancashire Coastal Way but at the houses ahead we will leave it to take a lane to the right....

....passing these stables where the la'al pony was making one heck of a racket because its companion was being loaded into a horse-box nearby.

Looking back over to Red Bank.

Edith aka Dr.Doolittle lost her touch here as no amount of coaxing would make this chappie come to her.

Lots of little ones in the fields as we make our way towards the canal.

I think this pond as been recently landscaped and is used by a local angling club.

Up on the canal now and the start of the return leg.

A few reflections along the way.

This fine chappie was cruisng up and down....

.....guarding his patch...

....whilst his partner was on the nest in a nearby canalside garden

We were soon back at Hest Bank....

....where a short walk down Station Road...

....took us back to the shore and a welcome brew and cake.
