---------------------------------------------------------------

The sun was back today and the weather was a lot cooler than of late so has I set off from home I was hoping for some good views. Driving along the promenade at Morecambe my hopes were dashed however as although I could see across the bay there was a slight haze about. However I was by myself and needed to be back home just after midday so I couldn't change my plans.

Having left the car in the usual place I made my way through the small copse...

...onto the open fellside.

With the sun almost in my face it was difficult to get a pictures so here's one looking back at the parking space.

A local gives me a passing glance as I reach the wall corner...

....with a look over Kendal Fell and Benson Knott to the hazy Howgills.

My route ahead is now plain to see although today I will make a small change.

Instead of taking our usual path up to the summit in a while I will divert to my left to take the one along the scar edge.....exciting stuff eh!!....the tension must be almost unbearable ;-)

Having cleared the woods on my left the views open up across the Lyth Valley to the Coniston Fells (a little imagination may be useful here).

Now leaving the main summit path to go through the gorse bushes towards the scar edge.

Although a popular spot for walkers and runners this was the first person I had seen since leaving the car.

Looking across the valley towards Whitbarrow.

Eventually I met up with the path coming up from Plumgarths and followed that...

....to the summit cairn.

The views northwards towards Red Screes and Kentmere were disappointing.

Potter Fell

The Whinfell Ridge over Plumgarths.

There was little point in hanging around so I started to make my way back...

The cars up there!

Even this local seemed to be laughing.

Back at the car and ready to go home and wondering ...." do the weather gods know it's All Fool's Day "
