The disappointment caused by the lack of views on my last walk a few days before on Cunswick Fell was soon forgotten on this walk along the neighbouring Scout Scar.

We left the car in a rough lay-by near the start of the walk which crosses the field that used to be the home of the Kendal Racecourse.

Looking towards the Whinfell Ridge as we make our way across the old racecourse.

A distant view to the head of Kentmere and all looks well for views today.

Looking towards Scout Scar with the mast on the Underbarrow road.

It is still possible to see the course of the old Harness Racecourse on the ground.

Before long we are across the old racecourse and onto the rougher fellside.

The walking is straightforward and easy but because of my lung problems I need to stop regularly. However it is no problem with views like these today.

Our way ahead towards the ridge.

Looking back over Kendal and Benson Knott to the Howgill Fells.

On the top of the ridge now and a look back...

....and ahead to Lakeland.

We dropped down from the ridge to the big cairn on the scar edge with Gummer's How ahead.

Looking down on the farm at Barrowfield.

Our route now turned northwards to follow the scar edge (no left turns)

A look back into the sun to my beloved Arnside Knott...

....whilst ahead lay the fells of Lakeland.

Approaching Hodgson's Leap and the Mushroom-like shelter comes into view.

The Coniston Fells across the wonderful Lyth Valley.

The Crinkle Crags and Bowfell with England's highest behind.

Langdale Pikes.

Now ar the northern end of the scar and looking over Cunswick Fell where I was on the previous walk towards the Shap fells.

Ahead of us the beautiful fells of Kentmere where for me it all began.

One in B & W for a change.

Looking towards the Whinfell Ridge as we turn about to make our way to the shelter.

From the shelter it is simply a case of heading southerly....

....to pick up a gate through the wall...

...and then it's all downhill, even I have no bother with this!

A peek over Kendal Fell to the Whinfell ridge.

Bradley Field.

Lots of these about.

And finally....back to the car.
